I-Canoe cant get AT Geronimo paddles in for while? (After Christmas) so I have choice to pay a bit more money to get Werner paddles.

Will buying these not mean waiting for them too? What does he have in stock?
I'd say a Sherpa blade would be too small for you. The Powerhouse is bigger. Sherpa is aimed towards females and smaller paddlers. If it was me I'd get carbon Powerhouses. I was gonna but them I got the AT's. The Powerhouse is is about 90g heavier but he will probably have a few in stock.
Shoguns I can't see the point of. Owning a foam core paddle, I can't really see the advantage of them. They are actually heavier (the Shogun being 80g heavier than the carbon Powerhouse) and are liable to being punctured. Which is likely in Ireland. Mine already did before Keyes fixed it.
The Odachi though....A lot of money looks ridiculously good and it's the lightest paddle on the market with the biggest surface area. Just have no idea how it is to use or what use it would have outside of races. I've heard some people say it's hard to roll with initially because of the blade design.
If I was spending 250 euro, I'd get a carbon Powerhouse. If I wanted to spend 500 and have a delicious paddle that I'd store in a trophy cabinet and give warm soapy baths to after every use, I'd get an Odachi.

Start borrowing paddles and see what you like the feel of best! They all catch water and fŭck it backwards.
The Odachis are really specialised. Great for creeking but if you're ever planning to paddle freestyle forget about it. And they might not be strong enough for serious creeking.
Straight shafts are way lighter, stiffer and stronger. I don't know why anyone buys cranks unless they've already got wrist issues.
Foam-core Werners and the new ATs are probably as durable as each other, but the glass Werners definitely don't last as long.

Hi Brian,
The Odachi is in styock in straight carbon 200/30. The others would have to ordered in. 200/45 would take approx 1-2 weeks, if you want 30 degree feather it would be a special order and would take 4-6 weeks.

Also thinking of getting a paddle, stuck between the Geronimos and Powerhouses/Sherpas... definitely want Carbon over fibreglass
I assume the the sherpa's target market of 'smaller paddler' would be myself, but If they're gonna wear as all paddles do, would it not be be better to get the powerhouses for the same price as after a while they'd reduce to the size of the sherpas?
Also, can anybody remember if the Great Outdoors xmas sale covers paddles? was thinking of getting them in GO if they're included...

Werner carbon non-foam-core blades wear even faster than the glass ones.
I'm not sure what you mean by look after them Cathal? Don't put them in the water when it's shallow? Or leave them in your room most of the time and only paddle occasionally?
And yeah, if you look after them and leave them in you're room all the time you'll get years and years out of them. But if you actually use them they wear a lot, it's unavoidable.
