Do we want to leave UL on Friday evening or early Saturday morning?
Sheep, like all wool-bearing animals, instinctively travel north, where it's colder, and they won't be so stuffy.

If we left Friday evening the potential is there to sleep right by a river...If we are sneaky enough! If we left sat morning it would have to be a pre dawn leaving time to get the most of it

If it's Wicklow everyone's welcome to stay at mine. It may still be a bit of a drive away but it's somewhere warm, dry and free to stay.

As far as I can tell this weekend is going to pan out something like this...
Meet Friday evening @ 7pm @ BH. We pack the van with all the gear we have, kayaking plus sleeping gear (tent, sleeping bag etc..)...all in preparation to leave at sparrows fart on Saturday.
6am Saturday morning meet at BH. Vans leave BH @ 6:15am destined for Killarney. Arrive at the put in to the Roughty river at 9am (post mandatory deli stop). We blast down the roughty with the crew honing in skills and derustifying. Saturday afternoon/early evening the most advanced of the crew do a super quick blast down the Flesk river. Afterwards we see where we can set up camp for the night. There is the option to go to a Hostel? But what we could do is just blast out into back country up the top of the Flesk and camp nice and quiet like!
Sunday - Nice early start aiming to be ready to be on the water for 9am. We run the Flesk with the whole crew - river level dependent. This will take a few hours as we will be doing a lot of scouting and rescue set up. We may decide to run from the upper Flesk down into the middle Flesk with everyone...again level dependent, but the upper will be a good warm up for the middle and it means that people not feeling spicy enough for the middle section can get a nice run in on the upper.
So be prepared for a good weekends paddling if the rain continues and keeps the rivers nicely topped up! Be prepared for an Irish wintery weekend too out in the mountains of kerry...bear grylls style. If anyone turns up wearing crosshatch my fist will be shaken at you...quite vigourously... Dress smart.
Also just a quick note that this plan is subject to change depending on where/how much rain falls. You can take this as the plan expecting final confirmation on Friday afternoon.
Much love
