This looks like it could be very easy to make: https://www.facebook.com/marcel.bloder/ ... 8973988541

Has two adjustable walls to adjust the flow.
So many locks around the country that this could be done in, just leave the walls down when not in use so they aren't a safety hazard.
Obviously there would be a lot of planning involved and would probably be very hard to get permission to do it but would be really cool if we could get one made near Limerick.

Great idea.
I know killaloe has locks on the canal which were pernamently closed during the summer. Thats probably the closest option i can think of ( Its only 25 minutes drive! ).
Towns one at get west probably isn't a option. There's probably too much water against it.

The building of something like that would take a week or 2. The red tape you'd have to get through to allow it to be approved will take 10 years.
Sheep, like all wool-bearing animals, instinctively travel north, where it's colder, and they won't be so stuffy.

Ireland has a load of mill races and tail races not in us that all the flow just goes over the weir, it would be the Easiest and most cost efficient way of making a play spot, all that you would need to do is divert most the flow required for the play hole down the race like it was done when the mill was in use. So basically in most location just making the mill drop smaller is all that would be required providing that the tail race is wide enough for to play in. Also most of these weir have small sluice gate to controls the flow going down the mill race and could easily be put in to use to vary the flow.
