I have Thule roof racks, they clamp between the door and the roof. These should be ok right?

Are they designed to fit your car?

There's literally hundreds of different Thule roof racks Dan. Each one designed to fit a different car.

They are designed to fit the car but they don't fix to the slot in the roof they clamp on from the door.

They should be fine so...just don't overload them. There's been more than one occasion in our club alone that racks like that have flown off the roof.

Well they aren't as good as the ones that fix to the roof fittings or the roof rails. They can vibrate and slip if they are old or not put on properly. How many boats will you be taking?

Yeah should be grand as long as the racks are nice and tight and you dont drive too fast.

If the foot pack is the right one for the car, you should be okay.

If it's made by Thule and is specifically made for your type of car then you're good to go.

If it's one of the generic ones that is designed to fit a range of cars then it's less bombproof. These are the ones that I've seen come off a good few times, make sure that they're on good and tight and if you're tying boats on with one strap that goes around both bars make sure not to overtighten it because that can pull the bars out of position.

Yeah, try using two straps when tying boats. One around the front rack and one around the back rack.
Will make the racks slip if you dont.
