University of Limerick Kayak Club

Hi everybody,

I am trying to raise some money for Rape Crisis Midwest. I am recruiting paddlers to paddle 10K, and raise about €100 each. I know it sounds like a lot of money but if you take the sponsorship card out with you over Christmas when you go to your local pubs etc., you might be surprising by how easy it is in this season of giving. The ULKC paddle will be Saturday the 31st of January to coincide with intervarsity training. This is a great way to train for the intervarsities and get ULKC on our way to 6 in a row!

If the date doesn't suit you can still participate as I am trying to organise similar events with Kilaloe Paddlers and Limerick Kayaking Club. So if you haven't done your good deed for the year here is your chance to have some fun, get some training done, and make some money for a great cause!

That is great news. Please spread the word I am hoping to get at least 8 more people from ULKC and I am in contact with the Limerick Club at the moment. Thanks for being the first two to agree to do it. I a have been in email contact with the LRCC and they have given the go ahead I am trying to organise a meeting for Friday. The Limerick Club are in the process of checking me out to make sure I'm not a scam artist! This will be hopefully be done tomorrow, with the help of Bríd O'Connell and they are hoping to join us on the 31st of January.

I have got the cards printed. I'll drop one out to Charlotte and Keyes soon, hopefully your not gone home already Charlotte but I'll leave it with Cathal if you are. Take them to the pub with you over the Xmas and you'll have no problem getting it filled try to get €5 a line. Obviously don't turn down money but if can all try to raise €100 each it would be great I was in the Limerick Rape Crisis Centre today and they have been dealing with a lot of cuts lately. They provide an absolutely essential service to victims of one of the most terrible crimes imaginable so lets try and show them as much support as possible.

I gave Sam a card already and I hope to get them to the rest of ye ASAP. The date has been agreed as the 31st of January which is a Saturday so keep it free. I am hoping to recruit as many people as possible so please spread the word. The plan so far is to finish in the Curragh Gower pub and do a bucket collection there too.
