Due to the high water levels and weather conditions, we are closing outback to casual paddling.
If you want to paddle outback, it's being treated as a club trip same as a paddle on any other river, with the necessity for the correct paddler ratios and that a relevant committee member needs to be asked. The usual sanctions will be in place for people that don't follow this.
This is simply because the volume of water coming down the Shannon has made outback become a river again instead of the flat water we are used to. This makes the river unsafe for people to paddle solo as we would have done under normal conditions.
We will notify again when it's safe enough to paddle under the normal outback rules.
Notice: Outback closed to casual paddling.

Was very high today and looks like it could be getting higher, fishermen were moving and tying up their boats, the river path is blocked off as it's underwater and they have sandbags ready at PESS and the languages buulding
