Right lads, as most of you know our first pool session of the semester is tonight but luckily we won't have any freshers so enjoy it :D

However from tomorrow onwards is gonna be a different story!! The next few weeks are going to be very chaotic at the pool so we'll need full cooperation from EVERYONE. Because of this I've made a plan of where I'd like to put certain people to help out with different jobs. Everyone can have a look at their places in the doc below. Please note that these are not permanent places and may change come each pool session. If anyone hasn't been given a job PM me and I'll sort you out.

The one thing that we'll need volunteers for is going to the boathouse in the sprinter and bringing some boats to the pool. The more that go the better as it will make for much shorter work for everyone. Separate threads will be made for this each day.

I'd like everyone to be at the pool for 9.30 tomorrow night as I really want these sessions to as smoothly as possible so we'll have to be organised. This won't be necessary once things quite down so don't worry!!

Instructors
Be sure to stick to the teaching plan and make sure that they learn the skills in order (you'll see in the doc). Also make sure use the assistants, they're the ones who really need to learn how to teach properly so don't take over too much. The main thing is the make sure they learn and have fun, it would probably be a good idea to get people in your group to learn each others names before you do anything just to break the ice.

So basically most importantly just please be at the pool early and we'll take it from there. Don't forget to read the attachment below.

Thanks lads :D

We should not let any new person paddle around until they have done a capsize drill, even without a deck. Yes, it'll mean lots of emptying of boats, but at least then we avoid people getting a huge fright straightaway.

Yeah capsize drill should be the very first thing they do before they even take a paddle stroke.

Wet boat rodeo is a great way to get people used to flipping over, improves edging and is a lot of craic

Task try fill up your boat with water while staying upright. They wiggle their hips and hold edges until water fills the boat entirely and they fall out.

I would "thank" that post Andrew but I can't find the thank button.
