New Years 2014-15 - Come to Kerry!

It's been a while since this club made an appearance at the annual informal New Year's paddle fest that is "Kerry".

So, we're going to rent a house in Glenbeigh/Rossbeigh, for the New Year period, probably Monday Dec 29th to Sunday Jan 4th. This will allow us to have a base to sleep and eat while:
  • getting paddling on some of Ireland's best rivers and getting a bit of surf in as well,
  • joining in in the barstool-paddling that goes on as well, with an epic multi-day session over the new year period with a great night in/out on the 31st, usually with some great swimming..
If you're interested in joining in the shenanigans, post in this thread and state what days you'd be interested in coming down for.

The cost of the house will be divided as fairly as I can amongst those of us that will be staying down, on a €cost per night basis - I'll also be taking some form of a deposit before Christmas from people, earliest people to pay me get first dibs on the beds! The more that come down, the cheaper it gets for everyone, and the better the craic is.

You'll probably need a sleeping bag, and possibly some form of ground mat/inflatable bed if there are a lot of people. Other than that, the usual things for a few days paddling and carousing!

Do come down - it'll be epic, as these new years trips end up being epics, for all the right reasons!

Awesome, thanks Cathal!

For anyone who doesn't know, paddler's New Years happens every year in Kerry. A couple of hundred paddlers rent houses for the week, go paddling every day and drinking every night and generally have the craic for the week. Last year NUIG, UCD, Trinity and a bunch of other colleges were there, along with a shit ton of other clubs and pretty much all of the best paddlers in the country.

The paddling down in Kerry is probably the best and most consistant in the country, and there are rivers to suit all level of paddler. We got lucky with the weather last year and got to paddle a few rivers that I've been wanting to do for years and there's loads of other fun stuff around there that runs pretty consistantly at that time of the year.

The pub down in Rossbeigh is legendary, as far as I know it only opens for that week every year, there's only two people working there and they don't give a shit what happens. You can bring in your own drink, dance naked on tables and do any other shite you can think of that would get you kicked out anywhere else!

It's one of best trips I've been on and anyone who doesn't experience the craziness of it at least once is seriously missing out!!

If you don't know the exact dates you're free yet, post up anyway to say you're interested and we'll start getting things organised
