Teaching is a skill like any other that we all need to practise to improve. All of you have learned loads in your time in the club and eventhough you might not think it you are more than capable of teaching some of the new first years who'll be starting soon.
Dealing with the huge numbers that are coming is never an easy task, and making sure that there is structured learning going on is even tougher at times so to help all of us to feel a little more comfortable in roles of teaching there have been two sessions organised.
Pool Night - Wednesday September 7th
Andrew Regan will be in the pool running through what is needed from each of us to make sure we welcome and teach the freshers to the best of our abilities when they arrive. At it's core it will be a how to teach session and will be a benefit to EVERYONE when we're trying to give back to the new members and the club by assisting in the pool in the coming weeks.
River Trip - Thursday September 8th
Eoin Howard will be heading up a Castleconnell trip starting at 2pm for only current members where we'll run through what's expected of each of us when it comes to river trips. Again somewhat of a how to teach session but really trying to get across how teaching is the core of these trips and how you can find your place in helping with the teaching.
I would absolutely recommend these days. It's up to us to ensure that the incoming freshers get taught to the same standards as us and these sessions will help us all so much in that. So for a start I'll see you at the pool on Wednesday!!! It won't be one to miss!
