Got an email last week from a recruiter from a Canadian Summer Camp. Supposedly they are head-hunting kayaking enthusiasts and instructors to work in summer camps in Canada. They contacted us directly because they seem to know who ULKC are! I know there's loads of other opportunities like these available in the USA too but these guys contacted us directly so I said I'd spread the word.

If ye're interested, do a bit of research into it and go for it!
Sheep, like all wool-bearing animals, instinctively travel north, where it's colder, and they won't be so stuffy.

I got a message off USIT through LinkedIn the other day asking if I'd be interested in doing something similar in the US. If anyone's interested let me know, I'll tell you who to contact and I'll send them a message and tell them to find you a job :P

This is a company called NYQuest who hire people and try to place them in a Canadian summer camp best suited to them, then organise visas for you etc. I did this last year so if you would like any more info drop me a message

There are a whole pile of companies working to put Europeans in contact with summer camps in the US and Canada. I've never done it myself but from what I've heard and read; No qualifications needed, the camps will train you in whatever you need. If you kayak or do any other sport you'll likely be able to get a job teaching that. The pay isn't great, and you'll have to pay for visas, flights, the organising company, etc. Expect to come away with only a small profit, if any. It's meant to be great craic, I know a few people who have had a great time over there. I'd say it's a good way to get into outdoor instructing work, if anyone thinks that might be better craic than a grown-up job after college.

Gav made me change this.
