I am organising the RCC charity paddle again this year and hope to raise as much money as last year. Last year we raised a huge €3,500 and I am told that kept the centre open for a whole month this year.
I am hoping everyone who was involved last year will get involved again and hopefully bring some new paddlers. Sponsorship cards will be available from me in the pool during February and March. The date has been fixed for the second of April.
ULKC members can just club equipment and so don't need to raise the €100 that we ask people who need to have gear organised for them but every little counts. Last year we could not have done it without our wonderful volunteers from ULKC acting as minders for people getting into boats for the first time.
The Rape Crisis Centre is under constant financial pressure and provides and invaluable service to survivors of Rape. It is a terrible crime that is never talked about and no one wants to think about it either but you can make a big difference in a fun way to those who need the service simply by turning up and taking a sponsorship card home and asking someone to take it to staff rooms and offices around the country.
