IVs Slalom

Hey everyone,

So somehow it was decided that Slalom will be coming back to varsities this year. It will be 4 people on the team, min 1 of each gender. A lot of people in the club at the moment have never competed or tried this discipline so we're organising a big training day. Yeehaw.
This will be run by run on Sat 1st Feb by Oisin Farrell who is on the Irish slalom team. If the levels are right to put out poles on the Clonmel slalom course we'll have it there, if not it'll be run outback.
I've trained with Oisin a few times before and theres a lot of good slalom techniques that can be learnt on flatwater and applied to other disciples so would highly recommend coming along if you're free.

In the mean time there's a lot you can be doing to train for slalom such as practicing hero line at CC and sprints & turns around blackbridge. I think a stern squirt might feel most natural for a lot of us getting around slalom gates however it is actually a bow rudder that slalom athletes mostly use to turn.
